Colleges must be proactive in their intent to eliminate sexual discrimination from educational environments

  • This regulation is regardless of whether or not the school deems the account of sexual misconduct  as “not bad enough”, victims are still to be provided new dorming, classes, jobs, etc. if they feel the need be to be separated from their assailant

  • Institutions are not allowed to make victims pay for any accommodations required to continue your education after experiencing violence (counseling, tutoring, change in housing, etc).

  • The school is not allowed to encourage students to not move forward with investigations or stay quiet about their accounts or pressure students into letting it go

  • This is completely up to Hampton to implement, however there at least has to be a grievance period for victims

  • The cases are to be investigated immediately upon report

  • At no point after reporting an incident should a victim ever have to face his/her assailant ever again on the basis of Title IX as they implement reassuring measures that makes sure the victim is comfortable in their educational setting moving forward from the incident

  • If the school does not reassure you your safety after the incident or in any other incident, anything that cost you any money relating to the incident is to be reimbursed to you including the following:

    • Student Loan Interest

    • Course Drop/Cancellation Fees

    • Lock Changes

    • Lost Tuition (if the student has to withdraw

    • Lost Scholarships

    • Transit (to court hearings)

    • Medical Expenses

    • Plan B

    • Tutoring

    • STI Treatment

    • Alternate Housing

    • Therapy Costs

  • Hampton University should have these rules and policies posted everywhere so that students can see them easily and they are easily accessible. The rules and policies are not  anywhere except for one poster in the Health Center. These rules and policies are not even posted to be immediately recognized on the HU website for Title IX it is at the bottom of the page. These rights are also to be stated at every orientation and assembly. Hampton does not insure that students know what their rights are concerning Title IX.

  • .As soon as the incident is caught wind by any faculty or staff, it should be addressed and reported to the Title IX Coordinator (Important: the incident is to be reported to the Title IX Coordinator. The police are not to be notified unless the victim gives consent for that)

  • Under no circumstances should an incident be ignored if it happened off campus because even if it did, if they were students, it is an issue of Hampton University

  • The Title IX Coordinator can only be the Title IX Coordinator and dedicate his/her time completely to that position and that position only
